Barabashov Readings in Astronomy

Regional scientific readings in astronomy for school pupils and students in Kharkiv, named after Mykola Barabashov, the astronomer whose school shaped planetary research in the city.

About

The Barabashov Readings are an annual regional conference where school pupils and students present their own astronomical research, held under the wing of the Research Institute of Astronomy of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Participants submit abstracts and give short talks, for many of them their first scientific presentation.

The readings have run for many editions since the 2000s, continuing online through the most difficult years for Kharkiv. They are a good example of how the region keeps its astronomical school alive by handing it on to the next generation.
